SeaWorld’s Youngest Killer Whale Dead

The last killer whale born in captivity at SeaWorld has died.

    FOX’s Chris Foster reports:

Kyara was three months old. She’d been treated for an infection at SeaWorld SanAntonio, but got worse and died.

She was conceived just before the company announced the end of its orca breeding program in March of last year: Gestation can last up to 18 months. There will be an autopsy to determine why Kyrya died.

SeaWorld has 22 orcas left at its parks in SanAntonio, Orlando, and SanDiego.

The plan is for their performances to be phased out by 2019, with a program of more “natural orca encounters” for guests, going forward.
